What car maintenance should I keep up with?

The best routine car maintenance task for your vehicle is getting your oil and filter changed, which is vital to helping prevent premature wear and tear in your engine. You can check your owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s recommendation on how often you should come in for an oil change, or our technicians will be glad to offer guidance.

Other important maintenance tasks include keeping the correct tire pressure in your tires and lubricating the chassis. Our expert mechanics take care of all the routine maintenance your vehicle needs to keep running smoothly.

What does it mean for an auto mechanic to be ASE-certified?

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifies automotive professionals by means of a rigorous exam and lengthy work history review. The certification process is meant to be both challenging and comprehensive, stressing the mechanics knowledge of both foreign and domestic complete vehicle repair. Not only that, technicians have to re-pass testing every five years to maintain certification. As cars become more sophisticated, ASE certification today means the mechanic working on your vehicle is truly a knowledgeable automotive professional. At Louetta Automotive, we’re proud to say all of our technicians are ASE-certified so our customers know they can depend on the expert service we’ll provide with every repair.

When does my car need to get an oil change?

Generally, it’s recommended to get your oil changed every 3,000 miles. Pushing beyond this means the oil collects more sediment and is less able to continue doing its job of limiting friction for your engine’s sensitive components. An oil change is fast and relatively inexpensive, making it one of the most cost-effective preventative maintenance measures you can undertake.

How can I tell if my brakes pads are worn?

As brake pads wear down, they aren’t able to provide the same level of response you’re used to. When you hear a grinding noise when you brake, you have to press harder to brake, or it’s simply taking longer to stop, you should get your brakes checked as soon as you can. Our brake experts will closely inspect your brake system to identify the problem and recommend the repairs or services you need to drive safely.

When should I have my car AC serviced?

Sometimes an AC issue isn’t all that apparent. Short of not blowing cold air, there are a lot of other issues with your vehicle’s AC system that can hinder its performance. If the system has a leak and/or is low on refrigerant, the system may get cool but not very cold. Other AC issues can cause odd smells or even wet floor boards. Our team of ASE-certified technicians diagnose your car’s AC issues with the latest diagnostic equipment to quickly discern where the issue is and the most expeditious way to solve the problem.

What does the check engine light mean?

The check engine light coming on can mean any one of a number of different issues. Some are relatively minor, while others require immediate attention. In any case, you shouldn’t ever ignore this warning from your vehicle’s computer system. Schedule a service appointment now to have our experts diagnose the issue causing your check engine light to come on. We’ll outline all your options and recommend the best path forward.

What’s included in a vehicle tune up?

During a vehicle tune up, our expert mechanics set to work to take care of a host of tasks that extend the life of your vehicle’s vital components. Depending on the vehicle, tune-up services can include:

  • Changing the oil and filter
  • Checking and replacing engine fluids as required
  • Replacing the different air filters
  • Checking and replacing wiper blades
  • Inspecting the brakes
  • Checking the charge of the battery
  • Replacing the fuel filter
  • Checking the rear differential
  • Inspecting all belts and hoses

Tune ups help your entire vehicle run better, handle better, and get better gas mileage.

When do I need new car tires?

Tires that are starting to provide a bumpy or noisy ride are generally due for a replacement or at least a tire rotation and balancing. The pros at Louetta Automotive can measure your tire’s tread depth to see if it’s within acceptable safe-driving standards set by the tire’s manufacturer. If your tire can’t be repaired, we carry an extensive line of new tires from the top manufacturers. With frequent rebates and promotions on tire services, there’s always an opportunity to save on new tires. You can find the perfect set for your vehicle and schedule your installation all online.

Where can I get car maintenance coupons?

We love helping our customers save money so work hard to carry a variety of auto service coupons, rebates, and specials. These change often with the season or manufacturers’ offerings, so make sure to check out our coupons page to see the latest deals we have available.

Does Louetta Automotive offer Texas vehicle inspections?

All Louetta Automotive locations provide the Texas State Vehicle Inspections needed to register and renew your vehicle’s registration. In addition to these safety tests, some jurisdictions also require emissions testing, which we are also equipped to provide.

Can I finance an auto repair service?

Absolutely, and we offer several options that help you manage unexpected car repair expenses. We partner with leading financial providers to offer the Louetta VIP CFNA credit card. No annual fee, ease of financing monthly payments, and a fast application process makes this credit card an ideal way to finance auto repairs.

How does the concierge service work?

We know that waiting for your vehicle to be serviced can be an inconvenience and sometimes you simply don’t have the time. That’s why we offer a pick-up and drop off program as a concierge service. We’ll pick your car up from as far as three miles from Louetta Automotive and return it to you 100% free of charge after the services are complete. Schedule a concierge pick-up service for your next appointment now.

How do you determine tire size on a car?

There’s two places to look for your tire information: on the tire itself and on the information placard in your driver’s side door jamb. Locate either and look for the width, profile, and wheel size which should appear something like “255/45 R 18”. With that information, you can shop our selection of tires or get in touch for help selecting the tire that’s right for your vehicle and budget.
